The BCCI announced the Indian team squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 T20 tournament which will be held from 27 August 2022 and hosted in UAE in Dubai and Sharjah with the final to be played on September 11. Dubai will host 10 matches in all and Sharjah three.
India will play their first match on August 28 against arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai. India is the defending champions of the Asia Cup, which was last played in 2018 in ODI format.
Rohit Sharma was named the captain of the side with KL Rahul making his comeback to the Indian team after missing the action since the end of IPL 2022. He first suffered from a sports hernia, for which he underwent surgery in Germany, and then hurt his hamstring during rehab in NCA.
Virat Kohli, who was rested for the West Indies and Zimbabwe tours, is also included in the squad. Suryakumar Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya are the other batters in the Indian batting lineup. Deepak Hooda was preferred over the likes of Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson in the final 15.

Ravindra Jadeja was the spin bowling all-rounder along with Yuzvendra Chahal, R Ashwin, and Ravi Bishnoi as the spin options.
For the pace bowling options, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, and Arshdeep Singh were chosen in the pace department.
Unfortunately, Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel missed out on selection owing to their respective injuries.
Deepak Chahar, Akshar Patel, and Shreyas Iyer were named as the three reserve players.
