Ishan Kishan missed a simple underarm run-out opportunity during the second T20I against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday (July 25).

The bizarre incident unfolded during the 15th over of Zimbabwe’s innings when Ravi Bishnoi was bowling. Tadiwanashe Marumani hit the fifth delivery to the backward point region and completed an easy single.

However, Marumani’s batting partner Newman Nyamhuri charged for the second run and was caught in the middle of the pitch with the ball in Ishan’s gloves.

The Indian wicketkeeper could have easily walked towards the stumps and taken the bails off as the batter was far away from the crease. However, he threw the ball and it missed the stumps, allowing Nyamhuri to get back to the crease.

Despite the fielding error, the visitors recorded a thumping 90-run victory to seal an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series.

Earlier in the game, Kishan played a blistering knock of 81 runs in just 44 balls, including 9 fours and 2 sixes. He partnered with Tilak Varma (60* off 29 balls) to push India's total to an imposing 219/5.

Chasing 220, Zimbabwe's batting unit collapsed under pressure, managing only 129 runs before being bowled out in 17.5 overs.

Following the win, Ishan Kishan addressed the missed run-out chance during the post-match presentation ceremony.

“I thought the batter was already inside the crease, but my bad. I'll be looking at the bails next time,” the southpaw said after receiving the Player-of-the-Match award.
