The BCCI, on July 6, 2026, announced the Indian team squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. One of the biggest noticeable things was that Sanju Samson’s name was missing from the roster.

This comes as a huge shock to his fans and the cricket fraternity alike, especially after he was benched by India for the recent second T20I match against England in Manchester, making way for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to make his Men in Blue T20I debut.

Samson has not been in the best of form, scoring 6 runs in 3 T20Is recently on the tour of the UK. However, not to forget, Samson was the Player of the Tournament in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 win, with 321 runs in 5 innings and a best score of 97*.

This has led many members of the Indian cricket fraternity to take to social media to react to the news of his omission.

Here are the posts:

Meanwhile, the Indian squad sees a completely new pace bowling attack comprising of Prince Yadav, Yash Thakur, Ashok Sharma, and Mayank Yadav. Varun Chakaravarthy will lead the spin attack with Harsh Dubey for company. Prabhsimran Singh had been named as the second wicketkeeper-batter.

India will play three T20Is in Zimbabwe, with all games taking place in Harare on July 23, 25 and 26.
