Aiden Markam played an amazing knock for South Africa as they ended day three of the ongoing WTC 2025 Final against Australia. The match is being played at Lord’s Ground in London.

After two intense days of cricket where bowlers held the upper hand, South Africa has managed to put one foot across the winning line.

Australia ended their second innings on 207 thanks to the rearguard action by Mitchell Starc, who made 58 runs, and Alex Carey’s 43. This gave Australia a lead of 281 runs, setting South Africa a target of 282 runs.

Mitchell Starc then gave Australia the perfect start by removing Ryan Rickelton (6) and Wiaan Mulder (27), leaving the Proteas 70/2. But then Markram was joined by captain Temba Bavuma, and the duo have taken the wind out of Australia’s efforts to defend the total.

As the pitch eased up to bat, Bavuma and Markram chose their balls and played their shots merrily. Markram played risk-free cricket and made 102* runs in 159 balls with 11 fours. Temba Bavuma made 65* with 5 fours as South Africa ended day 3 on 213/2.

The duo added 143* runs for the third wicket as Markram stunned Australians and left the crowd at Lord’s in awe with his strokeplay. The opener kept Australian bowlers at bay when they were looking for quick wickets and later reaped the rewards of the tiring bowling attack.

His innings was purely a treat to watch, and the ICC shared the highlights of his innings on social media.
