Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam impressed one and all with his brilliant batting as he slammed a century on debut during Day 1 of the second Test against England in Multan on Tuesday (October 15).
Senior batter Babar Azam’s poor form and his snub from the Test side paved the way for Ghulam’s selection. Amidst all the outside noise, the 29-year-old responded with an excellent innings while batting at No. 4 position.
Kamran Ghulam’s knock of 118, studded with 11 boundaries and 1 six, came in a difficult situation when the hosts were struggling at 19-2. Having proven his mettle in domestic cricket with 16 first-class centuries, the batter rose to the occasion, putting together a 149-run partnership with Saim Ayub, who scored 77.
In the process, Ghulam became the 13th Pakistan batter to score a Test century on debut in a list which includes the likes of Javed Miandad and Saleem Malik. Thanks to his innings, the home team ended the opening day on 159/5.
With this knock on debut, Kamran Ghulam showcased his mental toughness and ability to perform under pressure. No wonder, the right-hander was lauded by the cricket fraternity members on social media.
