All-rounder Cameron Green and head coach Andrew McDonald were tested COVID-positive. They reportedly contracted the virus from Travis Head, who returned positive at the end of the opening Test in Adelaide last week.

Since then, Head has been tested negative and the southpaw is featuring in the second Test. Green is also part of Australia’s playing XI at the Gabba. However, the all-rounder is maintaining distance from his teammates during the field of play.

In the wake of the recent development, Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood on Thursday (January 25) hilariously shooed away Cameron Green while celebrating the wicket of West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite.

It was a light-hearted moment that took place during the eighth over of the first innings in Brisbane.

Earlier, Cricket Australia issued a statement, citing that both Green and McDonald would participate in the Gabba Test unless they felt too sick to be involved in the game.

“Cameron Green and Andrew McDonald will be separated from the group until they return a negative test. It will not hinder Green taking part in or McDonald attending the match in line with CA protocols,” Cricket Australia said.

COVID protocols allow players to take part in the match even if they do not return negative results in the next 24 hours, but must be kept apart from the rest of the group.

Hence, Green was also seen socially distancing himself from his teammates during the national anthem just before the second Test.

Having won the opening Test in Adelaide by 10 wickets, the Aussies are leading the two-match series 1-0 against the West Indies.
