After Pakistan’s embarrassing defeat, India moved to the No. 1 position in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points table. Both teams now share the joint top spot on the table, with a similar PCT (percentage of points) of 66.67 percent.

Pakistan entered the game with a perfect 100 per cent PCT but this loss meant that although they have 24 points, they share the top spot with India who have 16 points after two matches.

Pakistan have won two and lost one game in the ongoing WTC cycle so far, while India have won one and drawn one Test match.

Coming to the Perth Test, Australia racked up a mammoth 487/10 in their first innings on the back of David Warner’s century (164) and Mitchell Marsh’s 90.

In reply, Pakistan managed to post 271 before getting bowled out. After taking a huge first innings lead of 216 runs, the hosts batted aggressively in the second essay. They scored 233/5 in 63.2 overs before declaring their second innings to set a massive 450-run target for the tourists.

Chasing the target, Pakistan’s second innings folded for a paltry 89. The batting collapse was shocking, with all 10 batters getting out in 30.2 overs during the second and third sessions of the fourth day's play.
