Australia will play a Test series in New Zealand for the first time in eight years, the two countries cricket boards confirmed on Tuesday (July 18).

The Kiwis will host the first Test in Wellington from February 29, 2024 while the second and final Test will be played in Christchurch from March 8.

Before the Test series, Australia and New Zealand will square off in a three-match T20I series, starting in Wellington on February 21, 2024.

Australia defeated New Zealand 3-0 at home in the last Test series they played in 2019-20. The Aussies also swept the Black Caps 2-0 on their last tour of New Zealand in 2016.

New Zealand Cricket also announced the team's home summer schedule against South Africa, with a two-Test series starting in Tauranga on February 4 followed by Hamilton on February 13.

New Zealand’s home summer will get underway with a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh from December 17, followed by three T20s against the same opposition. They then host Pakistan in five T20Is starting in Auckland on January 12.

“It’s a hugely exciting time for cricket in New Zealand, both in terms of the great series and teams on offer this summer, and the ability for fans to either attend the matches first-hand or watch live on TV at no charge,” NZC chief executive David White said in a statement.

“It’s great people will be able to watch on their TVs at home or follow the action on digital devices no matter where they happen to be over the summer,” he added.
