Mitchell Marsh | GettyOn his return to red-ball cricket after almost four years, Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh put on a show with the bat on Day 1 of the third Ashes Test against England at Headingley.

The visitors were struggling at 85/4 on a green pitch after being asked to bat first. Amid the pressure situation, Marsh made a mockery of the English bowling attack, slamming a century in just 102 deliveries.

Marsh was eventually dismissed for run-a-ball 118 – his third century in the longest format of the game. In the process, he added 155 runs for the fifth wicket with Travis Head.

Thanks to his swashbuckling hundred, studded with 17 fours and 4 sixes, Australia posted 263 on the board in their first innings.

With this knock, the talented all-rounder didn’t only bail Australia out of trouble and put them in a strong position on a tough wicket but he also made his family proud.

In a video doing rounds on social media, Mitchell Marsh’s elder brother and former Australia batter Shaun Marsh and other family members can be seen relishing the moment of him reaching the three-figure mark.

In reply, England were 68/3 at the close of play on Day 1, trailing Australia by 195 runs in the first innings. Joe Root (19*) and Jonny Bairstow (1*) were unbeaten in the middle for the hosts.
