Ashes 2023: Steve Smith ensues memefest on Twitter with a hilarious leave on Stuart Broad's hat-trick ball

Steve Smith's amusing leave | TwitterAustralia’s star batter Steve Smith has a very unique way of leaving the cricket balls. His exaggerated actions while leaving the balls often become meme material and it was no different during the Ashes 2023 opener against England at Edgbaston.

On Day 2 of the first Ashes Test, Smith's hilarious leave on the bowling of Stuart Broad sparked a memefest on social media.

Smith came out to bat at No. 4 when Broad was on a hat-trick, having dismissed David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne on successive deliveries.

On the hat-trick ball, the England pacer’s execution was off the mark as he bowled a delivery down the leg side and Smith came up with an amusing leave, triggering a memefest.

Smith was later dismissed by England skipper Ben Stokes for 16. Australia finished the second day at 311/5, trailing the hosts by 82 runs in the first innings. Usman Khawaja (126*) and Alex Carey (52*) were unbeaten in the middle for the tourists at stumps on Day 2.
