WATCH: “An all-format great,” Australian players describe Virat Kohli ahead of WTC final

Kohli has scored 1,979 runs against Australia in 24 Tests at an average of 48.26 with eight hundreds.

Virat Kohli | GettyThere is a lot of buzz around the World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and Australia, slated to be held at the Oval from June 7 to 11.

Ahead of the marquee clash, Australian players were asked to describe Virat Kohli in a few words and the star India batter received rich praise from his opponent.

Taking to Instagram, ICC shared a video of the same with the caption, "What the Aussies think of Virat Kohli #WTC23 #cricket #cricketreels".

Australian skipper Pat Cummins hailed Virat as "Good player. Always up for a fight" while batting great Steve Smith described the former India skipper as "Superstar".

“He loves playing against us. He always scores runs against us, hope we can keep him quiet this week," added Smith.

Veteran opener David Warner described Kohli as a player who plays an "Unbelievable cover drive".

Marnus Labuschagne, who occupies the No. 1 position in the ICC Test batting rankings, had special words reserved for Virat Kohli.

"One of the all-time greats. An all-format great. Hopefully not this week (laughs)," Labuschagne stated.

Virat Kohli possesses a fairly impressive record versus Australia. He has played 24 Tests against the Aussies so far, amassing 1,979 runs at an average of 48.26 with eight hundreds and five half-centuries.

Kohli has travelled to UK for the WTC final on the back of stunning exploits in the recently-concluded IPL 2023 season. Playing for RCB, he scored 639 runs from 14 innings at a strike rate of 139.82 with two tons and six fifties.
