The highly-anticipated Test series between Australia and South Africa got underway at the Gabba, Brisbane on Saturday (December 17).
Opting to bowl first, the hosts bundled out the Proteas for a paltry 152 in the first innings. It was a collective bowling effort from the Aussies as Mitchell Starc (3-41), Nathan Lyon (3-14), Scott Boland (2-28) and Pat Cummins (2-35) shared the wickets between them.
In reply, Australia also got off to a shaky start as David Warner got out on the opening ball of the innings to Kagiso Rabada.
It was a well-directed short ball from Rabada and Warner fended it to short leg, where Khaya Zondo pulled off a one-handed catch at full stretch.

For the visitors, Rabada (2-50) and Anrich Nortje (2-37) picked two wickets each while Marco Jansen (1-15) took one scalp.
