Haris Rauf | GettyPakistan speedster Haris Rauf has been officially ruled out of the remainder of the three-match Test series against England due to injury.

Rauf sustained a strain in his right quad on the opening day of the first Test in Rawalpindi and failed to bowl during England's second innings as the visitors took a 1-0 lead in the series with a thrilling 74-run victory over Pakistan.

"A grade-II strain in right quad has ruled Haris Rauf out of the Test series against England," PCB stated in its official release.

"The fast bowler underwent an MRI during the first day’s play of the Rawalpindi Test after he rolled over the ball while fielding.

"The scans and the subsequent assessment by the PCB medical panel concluded that the fast bowler suffered a grade-II strain.

"Haris will travel to Lahore where he will begin his rehabilitation at the National High Performance Centre."

Coming to the Rawalpindi Test, the match was heading towards a draw before England made a brave declaration in their second innings at 264/7, setting a target of 343 for the hosts, who were bowled out for 268 minutes before the close of play on Day 5.

Earlier, the tourists racked up a mammoth 657/10 in their first innings with four batters namely Harry Brook (153), Zak Crawley (122), Ben Duckett (107) and Ollie Pope (108) smashing centuries.

Pakistan responded by scoring 579/10 with three of their batters – Abdullah Shafique (114), Imam-ul-Haq (121) and Babar Azam (136) – slamming hundreds.

However, the home team’s batting wasn’t up to the mark in the final innings as no batter managed to hit a century. Saud Shakeel was the top scorer with 76.
