Western Australia seamer Lance Morris and Queensland pacer Michael Neser have been drafted into Australia's squad for the second Test against West Indies, Cricket Australia (CA) said on Monday (December 5).
Australia skipper Pat Cummins sustained a quad strain and couldn’t bowl in West Indies’ second innings during the opening Test at Perth.
Cummins has expressed confidence in regaining full fitness for the second Test, slated to be held at the Adelaide Oval from December 8.
In case, Cummins fails to recover in time, a likely replacement would be Scott Boland, who has 18 wickets to his name from three Tests at an astonishing average of 9.55.
Morris, who is the top wicket-taker this season in the Sheffield Shield with 27 scalps, and Neser, who has 24 wickets in the same competition, will give the Australian team management more options.
Coming to the Perth Test, Australia defeated West Indies by 164 runs to take an unbeatable 1-0 lead in the two-match series. While the hosts made declarations of 598/4 and 182/2, they bundled out the West Indies for 283 and 333 to emerge victorious.
