The third umpire found the evidence conclusive and overruled the on-field call.

Azhar Ali | GettyThe first session of the fifth day’s play in the ongoing Lahore Test between Pakistan and Australia grabbed the headlines for a controversial decision, involving Azhar Ali.

During the 46th over Pakistan’s second innings, Azhar attempted to play a sweep shot but failed to get the desired connection. It seemed that the ball grazed past the inside edge of the bat, hit the pad before Steve Smith completed a simple catch at first slip.

The on-field umpire gave Azhar Ali not out, which prompted Australia skipper Pat Cummins to take a review. While the ultra edge showed some minor murmurs as the ball went past the bat, many fans believed that it wasn't conclusive to overrule the on-field call.

However, the third umpire was satisfied by the evidence adjudged Azhar out, leaving the batter furious as he made his way back to the pavilion.

Here are the videos:

Coming to the match, Australia declared their second innings on 227/3 to set a target of 351 for Pakistan.

The hosts were on 136/2 at the Lunch break with Imam-ul-Haq (66*) and skipper Babar Azam (19*) unbeaten in the middle.

The three-Test series will finish at 0-0 if the Lahore Test ends with a draw.
