NZ v BAN 2022: WATCH - Ross Taylor gets "guard of honour" from Bangladesh team in his last Test

Ross Taylor will make his final appearance in international cricket later this year against Netherlands.

New Zealand veteran batter Ross Taylor was given a guard of honour by the Bangladesh cricket team when he walked out to bat in the first innings of the Christchurch Test. Taylor had announced his retirement before the start of the series and he is playing his last Test match for New Zealand.

The gesture by Bangladesh cricketers for one of New Zealand's greats was appreciated on social media by cricket lovers. Taylor was later dismissed on 28 runs off 39 deliveries by Ebadot Hossain in the first innings.

New Zealand declared their first innings on 521/6 and bowled out Bangladesh for 126. The Blackcaps currently have a lead of 395 runs at the end of Day 2 and having lost the first Test match, they are looking good to level the series 1-1.

Taylor, the leading run-scorer for New Zealand in Test and ODI cricket, might get to bat again if the Kiwi skipper Tom Latham decides to not enforce the follow-on and give him another opportunity to bat.

The 37-year-old will make his last appearance in international cricket later this year in March-April when New Zealand will host the Netherlands for the ODI series.
