Legendary Australia batter Ricky Ponting is widely regarded as one of the shrewd cricketing brains in the world. During his playing days, Ponting led Australia with tremendous success and even today he displays his astute brilliance every now and then.
On Friday (December 17), Ponting predicted Australia all-rounder Cameron Green’s dismissal from the commentary box during the ongoing second Ashes Test at the Adelaide Oval.
The former skipper pointed out a weakness of Green on-air before Ben Stokes succeeded in cleaning him up.
"Very distinct change of tactics for the new batsman Cameron Green. They will get a lot fuller and straighter, they will target his stumps. Have a look at how he sets up in his stance. He sets up with a very open front foot. That is generally a sign of someone who is very worried about getting LBW, doesn't want to get their front foot too far across into the line of his stumps," Ponting said while commentating on the match for 7Cricket.
The clip of Ponting predicting the wicket soon went viral on social media and veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin too was impressed by it.
Sharing the video on his Twitter page, Ashwin wrote "Cricket literacy rate" with two airplane emojis.
