Shaheen Afridi makes giant stride to reach 8th spot in bowling rankings after heroics in Jamaica Test

Shaheen claimed a 10-wicket haul in Pakistan's series-levelling 109-run victory at Sabina Park.

Shaheen Afridi | GettyAfter his stellar showing in the just-concluded Test series against West Indies, Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi has made his maiden entry to the top 10 of ICC Test bowling rankings.

Shaheen finished the two-Test series with 18 wickets to his name. Taking eight wickets in the first Test, the left-arm pacer went on to claim career-best match figures of 10/94 in the second match, guiding Pakistan to a series-levelling 109-run victory at Sabina Park.

As a result, Shaheen climbed 10 spots to attain the eighth position in the bowling rankings with 783 ranting points.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a terrific start to his Test career, claiming 76 wickets in 19 matches at an average of 25.25. He has also displayed his brilliance in white-ball cricket and is proving to be a key figure across all formats for Pakistan.

In the batting rankings, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has gained. His scores of 75 and 33 have helped him move one slot to seventh position, two below his career-best fifth position in August last year. The right-hander returned with 193 runs, more than anyone else in the series, at an average of 48.25.

Fawad Alam has made a giant stride in the ICC Test batting rankings. After his superb knock of 124* in the first innings of the second Test, the left-hander leapfrogged 34 places to 21st spot – his highest career ranking.
