The New Zealand cricket team arrived home after a historic win in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against India at Southampton. The Kane Williamson-led side defeated India by 8 wickets on the reserve day of the rain-affected final match.

The official Instagram account of Blackcaps posted a clip of the New Zealand players at the airport. They captioned the video, "Back on home soil #WTC21 #BACKTHEBLACKCAPS #CricketNation #Cricket."

The Kiwi cricketers had celebrated their memorable title win before heading back home. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson said the boys had a great night after their two years of hard work paid off.

“We had a great night. The guys were obviously pretty chuffed after a fantastic game of cricket … you combine such a special moment after two years of hard work … it was fitting to push the boat out a little bit,” captain Kane Williamson was quoted as saying by ‘stuff.co.nz’.

New Zealand realized they have a good opportunity to win the final match when India lost Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujar early on the reserve day. India were bowled out on just 170 runs, with a lead of 138 runs.

Chasing only 139 for the win, Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson put up a 96 runs partnership to take them to the WTC title victory.
