WTC 2021 Final: Twitterati in splits as cameras caught Mohammad Shami fielding by wrapping a towel

Mohammad Shami | GettyRain and bad light might have grabbed headlines in the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final, but the marquee game has also witnessed some amusing on-field moments.

During the fifth day’s play, India pacer Mohammad Shami was seen fielding by wrapping a towel while standing at the deep square leg.

It was the last over before the Lunch break when cameras caught Shami sporting the towel and his antics left the spectators near the boundary line in splits.

Shami’s hilarious towel scene also drew the attention of Twitterati as they came up with funny captions for the viral picture.

Coming to the match, New Zealand scored 34 runs and lost three wickets in the first session to finish on 135/5, still trailing India by 82 runs in the first innings. Skipper Kane Williamson (19 not out) and all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme (0*) are currently in the middle.

For India, Shami was the most successful bowler on Day 5 as he dismissed Ross Taylor (11) and BJ Watling (1).
