All the excitement for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and New Zealand was washed off by rain on Friday (June 18). It was pouring down at Southampton and the match officials had to call off the first session of the day.

BCCI posted an update for fans on social media after rain played a spoilsport on the first day of the WTC final. The Indian cricket fans who had to wait for over a month to see Indian cricketers in action, after IPL 2021 got postponed in May, were not happy with the scenes from Southampton.

BCCI added another tweet which ruined the enthusiasm of the fans after they got to know the first session has been washed off. "Update: Unfortunately there will be no play in the first session on Day 1 of the ICC World Test Championship final. #WTC21," they tweeted.

Fans were eager to catch the live-action of the much-awaited WTC final. But rain has stretched their wait to watch Virat Kohli and boys taking on New Zealand.
