Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt said that the skipper battle between Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson in ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final is very neck-to-neck.
Both Team India and New Zealand will clash in the final of the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship, to be played at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton from June 18.
Team India played an intra-squad practice match in their lead-up to the WTC final while New Zealand is well prepared, after having crushed England in the second Test of the two-match series in Edgbaston and winning the series 1-0.
While previewing both the teams in a video posted on his YouTube channel, former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt remarked that both Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson are experienced players and along with them the teams have quality openers in Devon Conway and Rohit Sharma.
"Both skippers are experienced, both are top players. One team's opener scored a double century recently, and the other team's opener is Rohit Sharma," Salman Butt said on his YouTube Channel.
Butt further compared Kane Williamson to Virat Kohli, Conway to Gill, and Rahane to Taylor, suggesting that both teams are more or less equally matched.
"Dismissing Kane Williamson is a very tough task, but on the other side, you have Virat Kohli who has 70 international tons. Young has done well for New Zealand, Conway performed well, but India has Shubman Gill.
"Likewise, India has an experienced middle-order option in Ajinkya Rahane while the Blackcaps have Ross Taylor. Both teams are equally matched,” he said.
The WTC final winner will be awarded a Mace and a prize of $1.6 million while the runners-up would receive $800,000. The prize money will be shared between the two teams if the game ends in a draw.
