Team India eagerly waiting for WTC final 'playing conditions', ICC to release it in coming days

India and New Zealand will square off in the WTC final in Southampton from June 18-22.

Indian cricket team | GettyThe International Cricket Council (ICC) are expected to release the 'playing conditions' for the World Test Championship (WTC) final in the coming days, reported PTI on Wednesday (May 19).

Team India and New Zealand will square off in the WTC final in Southampton from June 18-22.

It is still not clear what happens if the historic game ends in a draw, tie or gets washed out? And the Virat Kohli-led side is eagerly awaiting a response to this and other questions concerning the 'playing conditions'.

"Since this is not another bilateral series Test match, we need to know about the playing conditions. There are three basic pointers that we need to know," a senior BCCI official privy to the Indian team's requirements told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

"What happens in case of a draw, tie or an eventual wash-out without at least one innings of both teams not being completed," he added.

"The ICC will be publishing the Playing Conditions in coming days. We can't put a date but I believe they will send it soon."

Before the WTC final, New Zealand will play England in two Tests at Lord’s (June 2-6) and Edgbaston (June 10-14) and the Kiwi Test contingent have already arrived in UK.

Team India are expected to reach England in the first week of June after serving stern isolation in Mumbai.

In UK, the Indian team members will quarantine in Southampton.

"Yes, India will be in Southampton only when New Zealand and England play the first of their two Tests. We expect ICC to give an idea of the duration of hard or soft quarantine in the next few days.

"Since it's an ICC event, the final notification needs to come from them," the source said.

The report also suggests that the BCCI is still negotiating soft quarantine with ECB and UK government authorities, which will enable the Indian players to train upon landing in England.
