Due to a surge in COVID-19 cases across the country, there was a question mark on continuing the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). But multiple players and members of support staff testing positive was the last straw as both BCCI and IPL governing council decided to suspend the tournament indefinitely.
Because of this, all eyes of all the cricket fans will be moving to the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) to be played between team India and New Zealand in Southampton in June.
The Indian side not only looks really strong on paper, but they have also proved themselves in the recent away series against Australia and the home Test series against England.
NZ players may travel with Team India to the UK for WTC final- NZ players’ union chief
According to the New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme, with the kind of players Virat Kohli has in his arsenal, picking the final playing XI for the WTC final will be a headache.
“With the amount of players they've got they can cover all bases because they've got real good seam bowlers these days and gun spinner, so I think the toughest thing for them is going to be picking the XI,” ICC quoted the Kiwi all-rounder saying on Twitter.
