Cricket South Africa (CSA) stated that they had held talks with the IPL franchisee to ensure the safe return of Proteas players and support staff, who were involved in IPL 2021.

With Wriddhiman Saha and Amit Mishra testing COVID positive on Tuesday (4th May), BCCI unanimously decided to postpone IPL 14 season, with immediate effect and asserted that they would find a way to send back the foreign players struck in India.

Reacting to the postponement of IPL, CSA stated that they support the decision taken by the BCCI and mentioned that they are in contact with the IPL franchises to ensure that all South African players involved in the tournament return home safely.

South Africa team captains express concern over possible suspension of CSA by ICC

"CSA supports the decision to put the health and safety interests of all involved in the tournament first and foremost and has made contact with all of the relevant franchises to ensure the expedited travel of all South African players and support staff back to our shores," CSA said in a statement

CSA stated that the players will have to home quarantine on arrival from India as per World Health Organization recommendations

"Those travelling back to South Africa will undergo home quarantine in line with the current World Health Organization recommendations," the statement read.

The statement further said: "CSA and the South African Cricketers Association (SACA) are in contact with all players and are assured of their safety and comfort in their respective locations.

"CSA wishes to extend its good wishes and support to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the people of India and thank the BCCI for keeping our players safe during this challenging time," it said.

With 31 matches still left, BCCI is considering the September window to host the remaining part of IPL 14.
