Australia were bowled out for 369 in the first innings of the fourth Test being played at the Gabba in Brisbane. The Indian openers came out to bat with positive intent in the second session on Day 2. However, only Rohit Sharma could get going as Shubman Gill was removed with an excellent delivery from Pat Cummins in the channel outside off inducing the batsman's outside edge and carrying it to the slips.

Rohit Sharma looked in absolute control with the bat facing the likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood, who weren't off the line with the new ball. Rohit got to 44 off 73 deliveries and had taken on Nathan Lyon along the ground.

He had already hit a boundary just 2 deliveries ago, and decided to go big again. This time, he danced down the track and hoiked Lyon towards Mitchell Starc hovering around long-on. Starc did well to get to the ball and pouched the catch. Sharma wasted yet another start and made former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar furious in the commentary box.

Sunil Gavaskar told Channel 7, "Why? Why? Why? That's an unbelievable shot. That's an irresponsible shot. There is a fielder there at long on, there is a fielder there at deep square leg. You have just hit a boundary a couple of deliveries earlier and why would you play that shot? You're a senior player, there is no excuse, absolutely no excuse for that shot. An unnecessary wicket, an unnecessary wicket gifted away. Totally unnecessary."

To add to the woes, right after hitting the shot to which he got out, Rohit seemed to hobble a bit and that is the last thing India would want at this stage in the match.
