Sri Lanka batsman Kusal Mendis got dismissed on a zero against England on the opening day of the first Test on Thursday (January 14). It was his fourth consecutive duck in Test cricket.

The 25-year-old has come into the series after a tough outing on the South Africa tour. He could only score 12 runs in four innings which included three ducks. Mendis hasn't recovered from the disastrous show and continued to disappoint with his batting.

England pacer Stuart Broad got his wicket in the opening Test at Galle International Stadium. Coming at number 3 after Lahiru Thirimanne's dismissal, Mendis pushed forward a full pitched delivery from Broad on the second delivery he faced. It found his edge and Jos Buttler caught it. It was the 11th Test duck for Mendis overall in his 47th Test match.
