New Zealand had another dominating outing against Pakistan in the ongoing Christchurch Test as they piled up a mammoth 659/6 (declared) on Day 3, taking a first innings lead of 362 runs.
Resuming their innings from 286/3, the hosts dominated the Pakistani bowling attack on the back of skipper Kane Williamson’s masterful double century.
Williamson, who was unbeaten on 112 overnight, played a marathon knock of 238 before getting out to Faheem Ashraf. His fourth double ton in Test cricket was laced with 28 fours.
Apart from Williamson, Henry Nicholls (157) and Daryl Mitchell (102 not out) played significant knocks to propel New Zealand to a gigantic total.
In their second innings, the visitors were reduced to 8/1 at stumps on Day 3. While Shan Masood got out for zero, Abid Ali and nightwatchman Mohammad Abbas remained unbeaten on 7 and 1 respectively.
For his stunning display with the bat, Williamson once again received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
