Last match's centurion Jermaine Blackwood was the lone man fighting for the West Indies as they crumbled to 124/8 by the close of play on Day 2 of the second Test in Wellington, their batting line-up looking well out of depth to keep the New Zealand attack at bay for any length of time. 

Kyle Jamieson (5/34) bagged his maiden five-fer while Tim Southee (3/29) added three scalps to his tally to take the Black Caps on the verge of a huge first-innings lead having posted a massive total of 460.

Blackwood (69) struck another breezy half-century but to reflect West Indies' batting woes, he was the only one in an otherwise sorry-looking scorecard to breach the 20-run mark. 

Earlier on, resuming play at 294/6, the Kiwis piled on the agony for the visiting attack by taking themselves past 450. Henry Nicholls continued from where he left and ended with a superlative 174. The tail wagged for the home team at the other end, especially Neil Wagner (66*) who made his first Test fifty. 

As they did in the defeat in Hamilton, the West Indies bowlers looked helpless either side of short bursts of spark, held back by inconsistency with their line and lengths throughout the innings. 

Shannon Gabriel (3/93), Chemar Holder (2/100) didn't add to their tally from Day 1 while Alzarri Joseph (3/109), Roston Chase (2/54) also couldn't cheaply finish off the Kiwi lower-order.
