England wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler is having a great time in the third and final Test against Pakistan at Southampton.
While Buttler slammed 152 in England’s first innings total of 583/8 (declared), he took three catches behind the stumps as the hosts bowled out Pakistan for 273.
Among the catches, there was a sharp one to dismiss Fawad Alam but it has created a bit of controversy.

After the stumps on Day 3, The Sky Sports Cricket broadcast went on to analyse Buttler’s improvement as a wicketkeeper, comparing the catch to a similar drop in the first Test.
However, one of the slo-mos caught the attention of Twitter users and they pointed out that Fawad should have been reprieved as Buttler’s gloves seem to have passed the stumps during the course of the delivery.
Law 27.3 states that, “The wicket-keeper shall remain wholly behind the wicket at the striker’s end from the moment the ball comes into play until a ball delivered by the bowler touches the bat or person of the striker or passes the wicket at the striker’s end. In the event of the wicketkeeper contravening this Law, the striker’s end umpire shall call and signal no ball as soon as applicable after the delivery of the ball.”
As for Fawad Alam, he lost his wicket to Dom Bess and got out for 21 as Pakistan are trailing the hosts by 310 runs at stumps on Day 3.
