International Cricket Council's (ICC) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) officials spoke to umpire Richard Kettleborough on Friday (August 14). He is among the two on-field umpires for the ongoing second Test between England and Pakistan at Ageas Bowl.

ACU got their eyes on Kettleborough after he walked out to the field wearing a smartwatch. As per a ESPNCricinfo report, he was seen wearing the smartwatch during the first session on day two of the second Test.

The English umpire soon realized his mistake and reported the incident to ACU after taking off the watch. It was a violation of the rules and the ACU officials then spoke to Kettleborough to remind him of his obligations under the Player and Match Officials Area Regulations (PMOA).

ICC has already confirmed that under the PMOA regulations, smartwatches are not permitted to be worn on the field and in areas designated as PMOA.

Back in 2018, Pakistan's players were questioned by officials after taking the field wearing smartwatches during the Lord's Test.
