Uncapped pacer Ollie Robinson has been drafted into England’s training squad ahead of their second Test against Pakistan, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Saturday (August 8).

Robinson has been withdrawn from the Sussex squad for their Bob Willis Trophy game against Kent, starting Saturday at Canterbury, as the 26-year-old pacer has been asked to enter the bio-secure bubble at Hampshire's Ageas Bowl as part of a closed-door training group on Monday (August 10).

Recently, the pacer was a member of the England squad at the start of the West Indies series last month which they won 2-1, but was eventually overlooked and released to his county Sussex for the Bob Willis Trophy.

Noteworthy, England already has James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, and Sam Curran in their fast-bowling battery, but Robinson could get a chance in the Pakistan Test series given the rotation policy that England have followed since the resumption of cricket.

Robinson has so far picked 244 wickets in 57 first-class games and he is currently raring to go after his impressive 8-65 in Sussex’s opening match of the red-ball season against Hampshire at Hove.
