ENG v PAK 2020: Wasim Akram wants Pakistan to learn from West Indies' mistakes in England

The visitors are gearing up for the start of the three-match Test series on August 5.

The series begins at Old Trafford ground in Manchester | AFP Former Pakistan captain and pace legend, Wasim Akram, believes the national team will have to really fight every moment for success against England in the three-match Test series beginning this Wednesday (August 5) in Manchester.

The England team will be taking the confidence of having bounced back from the opening loss and winning the Test series 2-1 against the West Indies into the face-off versus Pakistan.

Wasim thinks captain Azhar Ali and coach Misbah Ul Haq should also take note of the mistakes the previous visiting side of the summer made in order to compete. Among those, he found picking two spinners for the final Test and yet opting to bowl first after winning the toss the gravest.

"Pakistan are going to find it really tough against a very, very good and in-form England side," Wasim told inews.co.uk

"The home team will be confident on the back of consecutive wins against West Indies, but I believe that Pakistan can learn from the mistakes West Indies made."

"I couldn't believe that, after including two spinners in the side, the West Indies chose to bowl first in the final Test and lose any advantage they could have had by bowling in the fourth innings," he added.

Southampton's Ageas Bowl will host the final two Tests from August 13-17 and 21-25 respectively.

The two teams will move back to Manchester for the three-match T20I series to conclude Pakistan's long trip, featuring also the quarantine stay in wake of COVID-19 pandemic, in early September.
