Australian spin legend and commentator Shane Warne has heaped praise on Stuart Broad following his record bowling show in the recently-concluded Test series against West Indies, saying the fast-bowler has a good chance to enter the 700+ wicket club in Test cricket.

After being left out of the first Test in Southampton, which England lost, Broad made a stunning comeback, putting up an incredible show with the ball in the final two Tests of the three-match Test series to help England clinch the Wisden Trophy with a 2-1 series win over West Indies on Tuesday (July 28).

The 34-year-old finished the series on high, as he was named Man of the Series for his 16 wickets in just two matches, as well as, became the only second Englishman after James Anderson and overall seventh bowler in the Test cricket history to take 500 wickets in the Manchester Test.

Following his incredible achievement, the Aussie took to Twitter on Tuesday to congratulate Broad while mentioning he is at only 34 and still has plenty of time to make it to the elite 700+ Test wickets club.

Warne said in a Twitter post: “Congrats on the win & on the 500th wicket too mate and at only 34 years of age - still plenty of years left, 700+ a good chance.”

Broad said of his ambitions when he started his Test career, “It does feel a long time ago and I've learned so much. What's pleasing to me at the moment is that I feel so fresh and have done some technical work that makes me feel in a great rhythm right now. Looking forward to a couple of days outside the bio-secure environment but also looking forward to playing against Pakistan.”

The veteran pacer has already set his sights on the upcoming three-match Test series against Pakistan starting on August 5. The two teams will also play three T20Is in September.
