England’s premier pacer James Anderson has shared his opinion on the controversial snub of the experienced Stuart Broad from the first Test of the three-match Test series against the West Indies, which is being played at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
Broad has surprisingly left out of England XI for the ongoing Southampton Test against the Windies and even the veteran paceman has also expressed his anger at being dropped from a home Test for the first time in eight years, saying he deserved his place after his successful outings against Australia and South Africa.
Reacting to the same, Anderson admitted Broad’s “frustration and disappointment” over his omission from ongoing Test, but insisted his absence shows England’s strength in the bowling department.
His comments came after the close of play on day three of the first Test at Southampton, where the tourists managed to score 318 runs, managing to take a lead of 114 over England.
As per ANI, Anderson said: “He (Broad) is frustrated and disappointed to be left out, but this shows the strength we have in our bowling lineup and it is good for England that Stuart is disappointed to be left out of the team. He is desperate to be in this team and be a part of our success, so it’s a huge positive for the group going forward.”
Noteworthy, Anderson took three wickets while Ben Stokes took four wickets in the first innings with the hosts ended day three at 15/0, trailing West Indies by 99 runs in the ongoing first Test.
