CA chief reveals likely venue to host India-Australia day-night Test

The next Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be featuring the first-ever India-Australia D/N Test.

Adelaide Oval could host India's first D/N Test against Australia | GettyThere is a greater sense of excitement about the next Border-Gavaskar Trophy, scheduled for this winter, with the four-match series set to feature the first-ever D/N encounter between rivals India and Australia.

The Indian team had declined to go-ahead with the traditional pink-ball game when it last visited the Aussie shores during the 2018-19 season.

However, the stance changed with the arrival of the new BCCI regime led by president Sourav Ganguly, who ensured the country embraces the new concept with its inaugural game against Bangladesh in November last year.

It was later said by skipper Virat Kohli that he and his team wouldn't mind playing the pink-ball game under lights overseas also if they are foretold about it and given enough time for preparations, which only allowed Ganguly to then confirm, following lengthy conversations with Cricket Australia, that India will indeed play a day-night game on the tour down under.

And on Friday (March 20), CA CEO Kevin Roberts also provided an update on the venue which is most likely to play host to the historic occasion.

"We'd love to see a day-night Test in Adelaide," cricket.com.au quoted Roberts as saying.

"It's arguably the best day-night cricket venue in the world, and many would say the best place in the world to watch cricket."

"So a day-night Test in Adelaide would always be fantastic, regardless of the season or the opposition."

The first-ever D/N Test, between Australia and New Zealand, was also played at the Adelaide Oval during the 2015-16 season.

Since then, either side of India's last trip, the iconic ground has hosted one day-night Test per summer.
