England’s greatest ever Test pace bowler James Anderson has been ruled out of the remainder of the South Africa tour after suffering a rib injury during the second Test in Cape Town and the latest injury setback could make it really tough for the veteran to prolong his Test career.

The latest injury wasn’t really a good sign for the 37-year-old as he sustained a rib injury simply by the pressure of bowling and pushing himself to the limits in the Cape Town Test following his poor comeback in the Boxing Day Test against South Africa after a calf injury.

Anderson, England's all-time leading Test wicket-taker with 584 scalps in his job for 20 years, has recently insisted that he can go on until he is 40, but the way he has been getting inured, his body says something else which puts serious question marks on his international career.

However, the pace bowler was confident in healing from the latest injury in a few weeks time while expressed disappointment over missing the South Africa Test series.

Following the latest injury setback, Anderson took to Twitter to comment on the same, wrote: “Frustrating to be missing the rest of this series with a broken rib but hopefully will be healed in a few weeks! Will be supporting the boys from home.”

Noteworthy, before the ongoing south Africa tour, Anderson had missed Ashes 2019 at home as he had to spent almost five months working back to full fitness and he only showed signs of being back to his best with seven wickets in England’s 189-run win over the hosts in Cape Town.
