Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has turned down Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) invitation to be a special guest during the second and final Test against Sri Lanka to be held at the National Stadium, Karachi from Thursday (December 19).

On Wednesday, the PCB CEO Wasim Khan revealed that the PCB has invited Younis as a special guest keeping in mind the board's policy to honor former greats during home matches.

But Younis, who had played brilliant innings of 313 runs in Karachi when Pakistan last played a Test against Sri Lanka in February 2009, has rejected the invitation. However, the PCB didn’t make any comment on his rejection, but they were disappointed and upset with the Test legend’s act.

Wasim stated, “It is disappointing and upsetting that he is not coming. But Younis is a legend for us and it is his personal decision and we can't comment on that.”

Meanwhile, the PCB CEO also believes that the board needs to improve its relationship with some former cricketers, who had not been treated well in the past.

Wasim signed off by saying, “I am on good terms with him (Younis) and he is a legend for us and we would like to see him working one day with the board.”

Noteworthy, Younis was upset with the PCB after he was not recently given the charge of the national Under-19 squad because of his demand for not working at the National Cricket Academy and that could be the reason behind his negative response for the Karachi Test.

The PCB had also invited Javed Miandad and Bandula Warnapurra – who were captains of their sides when the first official Test was held between the two countries in 1982 as special guests for the first Test between the two teams in Rawalpindi.
