India captain Virat Kohli maintained his top position in the latest ICC Test rankings for batsmen having leapfrogged Australia's Ashes hero Steve Smith in the first week of December.
Virat scored a magnificent hundred in the D/N Test against Bangladesh in Kolkata to reach 928 rating points and is now a further 17 points ahead of Smith who could manage scores of just 43 and 16 in Australia's Perth Test victory over New Zealand.

Other prominent Indian batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane kept their 4th and 6th spots in the rankings, respectively, while Australian middle-order batsman Marnus Labuschagne and Pakistan mainstay Babar Azam also moved forward.
Labushagne has had three successive tons and gained three slots to occupy fifth place whereas Babar has reached the top 10 for the first time, moving from 13th to ninth position after an unbeaten hundred in the first innings of the drawn Test against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi.
The draw earned both teams 20 points towards the World Test Championship points table, where the Lankans now find themselves third with 80 points behind only India (360 points) and Australia (216) but ahead of New Zealand (60). Pakistan (20) followed by West Indies (0), South Africa (0) and Bangladesh (0) hold the rest of the spots.
