Veteran Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shar on Saturday, November 23, admitted that the team are missing the experience of Mohammad Abbas with Australian batsmen dominating the tourists in the ongoing first Domain Test at The Gabba, Brisbane.
Abbas, who is currently ranked 12th on the Test bowler rankings, was overlooked for the seamer Imran Khan for the Brisbane Test despite having done extremely well in the last Australia series.
The 33-year-old expressed his disappointment while saying the Pakistan team management decided to drop Abbas to go with the young pace trio of Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Imran Khan for the Brisbane Test.

His comments came after Australia piled up 580 runs in their first innings in the ongoing Brisbane Test of the two-match series with Imran finishing with just one scalp at The Gabb.
Yasir said at the press conference, “Yes, we miss Abbas as he did well in the last series against Australia. It is the team’s decision to drop Abbas and they decided that these three [Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Imran Khan] are playing.”
The 29-year-old has a superb Test career so far has taken 66 wickets in 14 Tests at an average of 18.86, and brilliantly tormented Australians in a two-Test series in the United Arab Emirates last October, as he took 17 wickets at an incredible average of 10.58.
On the other hand, Imran, who last played Test cricket in January 2017, was picked up for the Gabba Test on the back of his five-wicket haul on the second day of Pakistan’s practice match against Australia A. So far, he has taken 28 wickets at an average of 30.14 in 9 Tests.
