The second Ashes Test between England and Australia in Lord's ended in a draw and Australia are still leading by 1-0 in the five Tests series.
The first day of Test match got washed out due to rain and on the second day Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first. Josh Hazlewood provided a good start by removing Jason Roy and Joe Root cheaply but Rory Burns and Jonny Bairstow's fifties and lower order batsmen's cameos helped England to post 258 runs on the board.
In reply, Australia also had a poor start as both the openers and Usman Khawaja got out cheaply and at 102/5 Australia were in a lot of trouble. Steve Smith's fighting 92 runs knock helped Australia to cross 200 runs mark and eventually they were bowled out for 250 runs.
In the second innings also England had a poor start as Jason Roy and Joe Root got out on consecutive balls off Pat Cummins. Rory Burns and Joe Denly couldn't convert their starts and at 71/4 England were in trouble. Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler put up a good fight and their 90 runs partnership put England in a good position. Ben Stokes changed his gears and played some big shots and brought up his 7th Test hundred and England declared on 258/5 to set the target of 267 runs in 48 overs for Australia.
In the chase, once against David Warner failed and got out for just 5 runs. Usman Khawaja also perished off Jofra Archer. Archer continued to bowl a fearsome spell. Marnus Labuschnage who replaced concussed Steve Smith in the playing XI fought well and along with Travis Head shared 85 runs partnership for the fourth wicket and took Australia to a safe position. Though in the end Australia lost a few quick wickets but Head and Cummins played out four overs without any more damage and helped Australia to draw the Test. Ben Stokes was named Man of the Match.
