India captain Shafali Verma won the toss and chose to bowl first, and the decision proved to be correct. Titas Sadhu (2/6) and spinners Archana Devi (2/17) and Parshavi Chopra (2/13) ran through the England lineup as they folded for 68 in 17.1 overs.

For England, Ryana MacDonald-Gay top-scored with 19.

In reply, Soumya Tiwari (24*) and Gongadi Trisha made 24 runs, batting with caution and adding 46 runs for the third wicket. India achieved the target in 14 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Titas Sadhu was named Player of the Match for her 2/6.

PM Narendra Modi shared his wishes on Twitter with his message saying: “Congratulations to the Indian Team for a special win at the @ICC #U19T20WorldCup. They have played excellent cricket and their success will inspire several upcoming cricketers. Best wishes to the team for their future endeavours.”
