Indian cricket fraternity lauds India Women’s team for qualification in U19 T20 World Cup 2023 final

Player of the Match Parshavi Chopra and Shweta Sehrawat | GettyFinally, an Indian team managed to get better of New Zealand in a knockout match of an ICC world event, as the Women’s U19 team defeated their New Zealand counterparts in the first semi-final of the ongoing U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa and qualified for the final.

The semi-final which was played in Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on January 27, 2023, saw India captain Shafali Verma winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.

New Zealand U19 managed to make 107/9 in 20 overs with Georgia Plimmer top-scoring with 35 and Isabella Gaze making 25 runs. For India, Parshavi Chopra picked 3/20 and was named Player of the Match for the same.

In reply, skipper Shafali got out for 10 runs, Shweta Sehrawat remained unbeaten on 61 in 45 balls with 10 fours in her knock and Soumya Tiwari made 22 before being dismissed. But it was enough for the Indian team to attain the target with 8 wickets in hand in 14.2 overs.

Shafali Verma and her team will now face either England or Australia in the final on Sunday in Potchefstroom.

Indian cricket fraternity was all praises for the Indian women’s U19 team and praised them wholeheartedly for qualifying for the final of the T20 World Cup.
