Australia’s star all-rounder, Ellyse Perry, reacted hilariously to the Charlie Dean-Deepti Sharma run-out saga that has been the hot topic for discussion among the cricket fraternity for the past week.

Notably, Deepti ran out Charlie at the non-striker’s end for backing up too much despite warning her twice, as the move really helped India beat England women by 16 runs in the final ODI to clinch the series with a 3-0 margin at Lord’s on September 24.

Well, the Indian all-rounder found herself in hot water after controversially dismissing the England batter, with many criticizing her for going against the "spirit of cricket".

Speaking on the whole saga, Perry took a savage dig at England as many England cricketers slammed Deepti for her move. However, the Australian women's cricket star said that she didn't agree with this type of run-out, but if it had to be done, then it should be done to England.

Ellyse Perry said on The Grade Cricketer podcast: “I think the overall gist is no good, don’t do it, but if you’re going to do it, do it to England.”

However, Perry feels Deepti would take up the matter with the umpires if Dean is leaving the crease early. But the Indian spinner already claimed that she had warned Dean for regularly backing up too far and even informed the umpires before running her out.

She added, “If someone is very obviously leading off before the ball has been bowled, by a long margin, you’d probably say something to the umpire. You’d probably bring that up before a game if you knew someone notoriously did that but, no, besides that, I don’t think we’ve ever had a conversation about just chucking the mankad in.”

While England captain Heather Knight accused Deepti of “lying”, as she claimed the Indian star didn’t warn Dean, Perry praised Deepti’s personality but said it was against her nature.

Perry signed off by saying, “It’s layered. I actually spent a good month with Deepti Sharma just recently in the UK at The Hundred, we were both involved with Birmingham Phoenix, and I can honestly tell you she is the sweetest human being on the planet. So quietly spoken. Butter wouldn’t melt. And then comes out on the field with a bit of Whiteline fever, some technical rules … it’s always the quiet ones, isn’t it?”
