India wicketkeeper batter Taniya Bhatia has revealed that she was robbed of her valuables in the London Hotel where the Girls in Blue stayed during the recent tour of England. Though the team lost the T20I series 1-2, they whitewashed the hosts 3-0 in the ODI series.
The victory in the final ODI at Lord’s also proved to be the last appearance of legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami in an international cricket match. The Indian team managed to give her the perfect send-off in a match that elicited quite a furor due to Deepti Sharma running out Charlie Dean at the non-striker’s end to earn the win for her team.
Meanwhile in another shocking piece of news Taniya Bhatia, who also traveled to the UK with the team, revealed on Twitter that someone stole her bag from her hotel room in London.
"Shocked and disappointed at Marriot Hotel London Maida Vale management; someone walked into my personal room and stole my bag with cash, cards, watches and jewellery during my recent stay as a part of Indian Women's Cricket team.@MarriottBonvoy. So unsafe," she tweeted.
"Hoping for a quick investigation and resolution of this matter. Such lack of security at @ECB_cricket's preferred hotel partner is astounding. Hope they will take cognisance as well," she added.
The hotel has responded to the cricketer's tweet, asking for her details.
Taniya was part of the squad but did not feature in any of the three matches in the ODI series. She had played the T20I on September 6.
