Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev has come up with a surprising solution to the run-out issue after Deepti Sharma was heavily criticized for running out Charlie Dean at the non-striker's end during the third and final women's ODI at Lord’s on September 24.

Actually, the Indian all-rounder ran out Charlie Dean at the non-striker's end in the 44th over of England's chase after she stepped outside her crease before Sharma delivered the ball at Lord’s. It all happened when England Women required only 17 in the last 38 balls to win the final ODI against India Women.

Well, it was all within the laws, as if a batter at the non-striker's end leaves the crease before the bowlers deliver the ball, then the bowler can dismiss the batter by removing the bails, and that's exactly what Deepti did with Dean, but ended up being criticized for going against the spirit of cricket.

While many have been lashing out at the Indian cricketer for running out the England batter at the non-striker's end, some were happy for her to utilize the law of cricket on social media. Meanwhile, the 1983 World Cup-winning captain has suggested penalizing the batters instead of a run-out to end the long-time debate over the spirit of cricket following the Deepti-Dean saga at Lord’s.

Taking to his social media handle, the legendary all-rounder wrote in his Instagram story: “In a situation like this, I feel instead of intense debates every time - there should be a simple rule. Deprive the batsmen of their run. It should be deemed a short run. It's a better solution in my mind.”

Notably, India women’s cricket team had won the third ODI by 16 runs to clinch the series with 3-0 margin against England women after losing the T20I series 1-2 to the hosts.
