Indian women’s cricket team is all set to tour Sri Lanka to play a white-ball series in the upcoming months en route to the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.
The Women in Blue have been out of action after the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022. This will be their first assignment in more than three months.
According to a TOI report, Indian women’s team will feature in three ODIs and as many T20Is on the tour of Sri Lanka in June-July.
“The team will arrive in Sri Lanka on June 18. The first ODI is scheduled to take place on June 23, while the first T20I will be held on July 3. The tour will end with the last T20I on July 7,” a BCCI source quoted as saying by Times of India.
The Indian board isn’t concerned about the unrest situation in Sri Lanka amid the political turmoil and economic crisis.
“Even the Australian men’s cricket team is touring Lanka around the same time. So cricket shouldn’t be affected by that,” the source said.
After the CWG 2022, scheduled to be held between July 29 and August 8, India will play three T20Is against England followed by three ODIs. The last game of the tour will be held at the Lord’s on September 24.
“The BCCI requested the English Cricket Board to schedule a Test, but ECB couldn’t accede to the request, citing a busy schedule, which includes the ‘Hundred’ too, for them,” the source stated.
