India's batter Punam Raut surprised everyone by walking off on a caught-behind appeal by the Australians despite the on-field umpire adjudging it not out. The incident happened during India's first-ever pink-ball Test match against Australia in Queensland.
In the 81st over, left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux managed to get the outside edge of Raut, who tried to defend the ball on the front foot. The wicket-keeper Alyssa Healy looked excited as soon as she collected the ball but the umpire was not impressed.
Raut scored 36 runs off 165 deliveries before getting out to Sophie. With her dismissal, India were three down on 217 runs in 80.4 overs.
Australia opener Beth Mooney, who was speaking to the commentators on the mic after the incident said that she was not sure whether Raut had got a bat to it.
“No way,” said Mooney when asked whether she would have walked like that. “Don't know. The umpire said not out,” she said.
Former India wicketkeeper Saba Karim said it was a strange call. “It was very strange, to be honest. There is no DRS,” he said on Sony Sports Network. Ex-India women's cricketer Nooshin Al Khadeer hopes Raut doesn't regret her decision to walk off. She said, “I hope Raut doesn't regret it now."

India's opener Smriti Mandhana provided the middle-order batters a good platform by smashing a hundred. She scored 127 off 216 balls which included 22 fours and a six at the Carrara Oval.
