Captain Harmanpreet Kaur believes that the Indian women’s team will get a lot of love if they win the ongoing T20 World Cup.

The Women in Blue have reached the final of the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup for the first time ever and the team is well prepared to get their first title victory as well. The side has remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and will be facing the hosts, who they beat in the tournament opener.

Kaur said, “We'll get a lot of attention back home because everyone wants us to play good cricket and they're expecting us to do well. We will try to give our best. If we win, definitely we'll get a lot of attention and a lot of love from back home.

The Indian captain will be turning 31 on the day of the final and her parents will be up in the stands watching her lead the team out on the field. Her father had watched her play cricket in her school but her mother will be watching her for the first time.

Harmanpreet is excited about this and will be a bit more motivated to score big runs on the day.

My parents are here and they wanted to see today's game but unfortunately they didn't get to watch. It was the first time they were going to watch me playing cricket since my dad did when I was in school, and my mother has never watched me play cricket. It means a lot because from day one I wanted them to watch me playing cricket and today I got this opportunity,” she said.

They have come here to watch all of us playing, and I hope we get all support from all the parents and try to win this tournament,” the cricketer added.

Team India lost the 2017 ODI World Cup Final at the Lord’s but the day turned out to be a game-changer for women’s cricket and Harmanpreet Kaur hopes that the upcoming Final would also bring in a lot of attention to the women’s game irrespective of the result.

Hopefully, as we got in the 2017 World Cup final, we'll get a very good day for women's cricket,” she concluded.
