Prime Minister Narendra Modi took delight in recalling India's T20 World Cup 2024 victory while speaking to a crowd of excited Indians in Moscow on Tuesday as part of his two-day visit to Russia.

PM Modi told the 'real tale' of India's remarkable victory, adding the cricket team's achievement exemplifies the never-say-die attitude of young Indians.

India won the T20 World Cup on Saturday, June 29 in Barbados after beating South Africa in a thrilling final. They defeated South Africa by 7 runs despite needing to defend 24 runs in 26 balls at one stage with Proteas having 6 wickets in hand and a set and blazing Heinrich Klaasen at the crease.

But Indian pacers Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya bowled extremely well and helped India become two-time T20 World champions.

"You all must have celebrated India's T20 World Cup victory. Did you? Or did you not? Were you all proud or not? There is a real story and a road towards the World Cup triumph. Today's youth and the youth of India do not give up till the last ball and last moment. The victory kisses those feet who are not ready to give up. The feeling is not just limited to cricket but is also evident in other sports," PM Modi said during his address as the Indian diaspora cheered the popular leader.

The Prime Minister greeted the triumphant Indian team for brunch in New Delhi after Rohit Sharma and his colleagues returned from Tornado-hit Barbados. PM Modi greeted the players and listened to recollections from the historic campaign during a lighthearted conversation at his official residence in the capital city.
